TCP-LoRaD: A Loss Recovery and Differentiation Algorithm for Improving TCP Performance over MANETs in Noisy Channels

چکیده

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are becoming popular technologies because they offer flexibility in setting up anytime and anywhere, provide communication support on the go. This requires use of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) which is not originally designed for MANET environments; therefore, it raises serious performance issues. To overcome deficiency original TCP, several modifications have been proposed reported networking literature. TCP-WELCOME (Wireless Environment, Link losses, Congestion packet loss ModEls) one better TCP variants suitable MANETs. However, has found that this protocol problems with losses network congestion as adopts control mechanism New Reno. We also does perform well noisy channel conditions wireless environments. In paper, we propose a novel recovery differentiation algorithm (called TCP-LoRaD) to above-mentioned problems. validate TCP-LoRaD through an extensive simulation setup using Riverbed Modeler (formerly OPNET). Results obtained show offers 20% higher throughput about 15% lower end-to-end delays than under medium high traffic loads.

Improving TCP Performance over Wireless Networks Using Loss Differentiation Algorithms

The use of loss differentiation algorithms within the congestion control scheme of TCP was proposed recently as a way of improving TCP performance over heterogeneous networks including wireless links affected by random loss. Such algorithms provide TCP with an estimate of the cause of packet losses. In this paper, we propose to use the Vegas loss differentiation algorithm to enhance the TCP New...

TCP BaLDE for Improving TCP Performance over Heterogeneous Networks

Network congestion and random errors of wireless link are two well-known noteworthy parameters which degrade the TCP performance over heterogeneous networks. We put forward a novel end-to-end TCP congestion control mechanism, namely TCP BaLDE (Bandwidth and Loss Differentiation Estimate), in which the TCP congestion control categorizes the reason of the packet loss by estimating loss differenti...

TCP Performance over Satellite Channels

Technological advances are enabling new satellite communications systems that combine broadband data rates with small terminals. These novel systems are being designed to provide affordable “last-mile” network access to home and small business users worldwide. In particular, two types of advanced broadband satellite systems are under development: high-power satellites deployed at traditional ge...

Improving TCP Performance over Multi-Slot GSM

In this paper, we examine the effects of TCP over a Multi-Slot GSM testbed as well as improving the performance of TCP using a smart link-level retransmission scheme. The smart link-level retransmission scheme (also known as the Snoop Protocol [1]), which was developed at the University of California in Berkeley, was designed to reduce the number of duplicate acknowledgements from returning to ...

Improving TCP Performance Over Wireless Networks

The robustness and exibility of the TCP protocol has been engineered to perform eÆciently over wired links between xed hosts. However, wireless links violate some of the general assumptions made by TCP, resulting in sub-optimum performance. Two of most critical problems stem from basic assumptions made by TCP such as: TCP assumes that all losses are due to congestion, and invokes congestion con...
